Sponsor an Orphan

The Prophet ﷺ said, ‘The one who cares for an orphan and myself will be together in Paradise like this’, and he ﷺ held his two fingers together to illustrate. [Bukhari]

Did you know, every day an estimated 10,000 children become orphans. Life in poverty is very tough but for a child who doesn’t have a father beside him life throws challenges and troubles from all sides. The OWS UK believes that vulnerable children especially orphans deserve the same opportunities in life as any other child. Just because a child has lost its father shouldn’t mean that the child can no longer do well in its life.

Give the Gift of Childhood to an Orphan

A child is a child: they receive smiles and attention wherever they go but if the child is an orphan they often end up working in low paid child labour jobs.

This leaves them vulnerable to exploitation and abuse.

Sadly, becoming an orphan can multiply life’s challenges, on top of the grief, they have already suffered.

Through our sponsor an orphan programme, we are aiming to bring relief of poverty to orphans so they have a fairer chance of a better future.

Make your house ‘the best house’

The definition of the best house in this world is the one which has lots of rooms, garden, swimming pool, driveway but in front of Allah سبحانه و تعالى the best house is the one which takes care of orphans.

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, ‘The best house among the Muslims is the house in which orphans are well-treated. The worst house among the Muslims is the house in which orphans are ill-treated’. [Bukhari]

Let this hadith be a reminder for all of us. We should make our houses welcoming to orphans. Living in the west we might not have the opportunity to welcome orphans into our houses but we can still reap the reward and bring blessings by sponsoring an orphan in poor communities.

Do you want your wealth to be blessed?

Throughout the Quran and the Sunnah, it is mentioned that spending in the way of Allah doesn’t decrease your wealth rather spending in the way of Allah puts barakah in your wealth. One of the best ways to gain blessings in your wealth is to spend your money on taking care of orphans.

Allah سبحانه و تعالى says:

“Righteousness is not that you turn your faces toward the east or the west, but [true] righteousness is [in] one who believes in Allah, the Last Day, the angels, the Book, and the prophets and gives wealth, in spite of love for it, to relatives, orphans, the needy, the traveller, those who ask [for help], and for freeing slaves; [and who] establishes prayer and gives zakāh; [those who] fulfil their promise when they promise; and [those who] are patient in poverty and hardship and during battle. Those are the ones who have been true, and it is those who are righteous.”

[al Baqarah 177)

Take Care of Orphans – It is an act of Sadaqah Jariyah

Islam always encourages us to leave a legacy, so even after death, we continue gaining good deeds. There are many ways in which you can leave a legacy, you can build a school, build a masjid, leave righteous children behind and by sponsoring an orphan. Insha’Allah your sponsorship will enable this orphan to grow in a safe environment – for every act of good deed performed by this child you will receive a reward from Allah سبحانه و تعالى and it doesn’t just stop there, you will continue receiving a reward for every act of good deed performed by the orphan, his/her future generational offspring.

This is an amazing opportunity for someone who wants to continue receiving good deeds even after death.

Thousands of orphans are waiting to have a future…
