Muslim Widows Telling Their Stories
The life of a widow after the loss of her husband has never been easy. However, if she has young children to look after or she herself is elderly without support then the task becomes even harder. The OWS UK is helping hundreds of widows. We are providing financial support for widows who do not have anyone to take care of them as well as the ones who are taking care of their orphaned children.
We need your support.
Help us bring stability in widows’ lives
Story of Bibi
I am a 79 years old widow, my husband passed away 11 years ago.
After my husband’s death, I became financially and physically dependent due to old age and illness, suffering from various health problems which resulted in limited mobility. We had some livestock which was very helpful in earning daily life needs, but as I became ill, I was unable to look after livestock and I had to sell them.
I was struggling when a school headteacher introduced me to The OWS UK and I am eternally grateful to her.
I applied for assistance from them, and the process was straightforward and quick.
Without their help and support, I would not be living a normal life. I would say The OWS UK has changed my life. They have a mission to uplift people who are suffering and need support and I am grateful for their help.
I do not have a son to support me, but when you people send money to me, I feel like I have many sons who don’t forget me, sending money every year.
My best wishes are with The OWS UK and I would like to request everyone to support their great work.

Story of Nisha Miah
The OWS Foundation has helped me by knowing I am not alone on this journey. When my husband passed away, I felt alone and afraid. I do still have the feelings at times but it’s refreshing to know the OWS are here to support me financially during the loss OF our family’s main breadwinner. God bless them for all their help for me and all the other vulnerable women in my village.
Story of Samina
My name is Samina, and I live with my two young daughters and son. Their father passed away due to a heart attack. He was the sole breadwinner for the family and worked very hard for us.
Losing a father and husband creates a gap that can never be filled. Providing for our children in a society where there are not enough opportunities for women to find work was a big challenge for me.
I did not have much education, which limited my options to find work and support my family. Educating my children is my priority so they can have an opportunity to progress in life.
I started sewing clothes at home to earn a living and provide for my children. This is a skill I learned from my mother at a young age. I was working hard but still, it was not enough to provide for the family.
With help from The OWS UK, I get much-needed support. Your donations are helping pay for the educational expenses for my children. Educating them is my dream and thanks to you all, this is now being fulfilled.
I am very happy and thankful for the support I get.
Story of Rashida
I am a young single mother of two young daughters aged 14 and 10, who recently became widowed.
I was living happily with my small family; my husband was a factory worker. He was supporting his family and wanted to educate our daughters, but he suffered a fatal stroke and lost his life.
We lost our source of income and were relying on support from friends and family. I occasionally found work as a domestic helper and tried to make ends meet, but it was never enough.
Like every mother, I want the best for my daughters and want to educate them and provide for their needs. With the help of The OWS UK, I am now able to support my children’s education and do it in a dignified way.
The OWS UK has a mission to support our community and uplift their lives. Your donations can help a family to put food on their table and educate their young ones to make them able to progress in life and live with dignity.
